It's no secret that every client wants long-lasting eyebrow dyeing that holds up well and fades smoothly. After all, in today's fast-paced life, many women are looking for ways to simplify their daily care routine and have perfectly shaped eyebrows that don't require constant touch-ups. To achieve such results, brow artists have some tricks, which we will discuss today.

Which Dyes to Choose for Long-Lasting Eyebrow Dyeing?

The choice of dye plays a significant role in the longevity of the dyeing.

For long-lasting dyeing, it's better to choose demi-permanent dyes that dye both the skin and hair well. However, it is worth remembering that demi-permanent dyes often have a large pigment mass and do not replace the natural pigment in the structure of the hair, only adding an artificial one on top. Such dyes can easily over-darken the hair.

Examples of demi-permanent dyes include: Zola dye, Elan classic series in sets, Elan Smart Brow Tint System, Sculptor dye.

Permanent dyes partially replace the natural pigment with an artificial one. For clients with porous hair, it is better to choose them to avoid darkened eyebrows.

Examples of permanent dyes include Igora and Apraise dyes.

Semi-permanent dyes are the least suitable for a bright imprint and long-lasting effect. These dyes do not penetrate deeply into the hair but work on the surface and, therefore, wash out faster. However, these dyes are excellent for intermediate eyebrow toning.

Examples of semi-permanent dyes include: non-oxidative dyes, direct action pigments, Elan FlashTint, Igora mousses and Elan masks.

Proper skin preparation before the dyeing procedure plays an important role in the durability of the dye. Always analyze the client's skin condition and choose an individual approach. Moisturize dry skin and, on the contrary, degrease oily skin so that the dye applies evenly without spots.

For a better imprint on the skin, you can use the double dyeing technique. For example, you can duplicate the lower eyebrow line or draw in missing hairs with Elan FlashTint dye or any other pigment-rich dye. It is advisable for it to have a gel texture for convenience.

To fix the result after the eyebrow dyeing procedure, we recommend using color-fixing fluids from your favorite brands, which not only speed up the dye stabilization but also extend the wear time and nourish the hair with additional care. Also, do not forget to thoroughly wash off the dye from the skin using foam so that the shade does not become more reddish the next day.

How to work with areas of skin that do not dyeing well?

Sometimes clients have areas of skin that are difficult to dye - scars or skin structure features. Apply D-Color from Elan to these areas for 2-3 minutes in a 1:1 ratio, rinse, and continue the procedure. But remember that in these places, the hair will darken very quickly, but the imprint on the skin will be more saturated.

How Long Does the Dye Last on the Skin?

“How long will the dye last?” - this is probably the most common question asked to brow artists. There is no definite answer as it depends on many factors and is quite individual.
It should be noted that on oily skin, the dye will last less because such skin secretes a lot of sebum – this should be explained to the client after the procedure.

For owners of dry skin, moisturize it well before the procedure and suggest home care in the form of serums and fluids for the eyebrows to prevent the formation of skin flakes between the hairs, which will interfere with the dye application.

Even factors such as the time of year affect durability. In summer, the human body is more prone to releasing more sweat, which in turn contributes to faster washing out of the dye from the skin. This also includes visits to baths and saunas – excessive humidity washes out the dye – all these nuances must be discussed with the client.

Home Care to Ensure the Dye Lasts Longer

If the client wants the dye to last as long as possible, ask them to try not to apply care products, creams, toners to the eyebrows, minimize water exposure, and avoid intensive washing in the eyebrow area. For home use, you can recommend buying toning mousses and masks to maintain the hair color when the next appointment with the brow master is still far off. This way, the hair will remain rich, and the client will be able to enjoy the effect longer when they cannot come to you for the procedure. Moreover, they do not contain PPD, which minimizes allergic reactions and can be used much more frequently than classic dyes.

By using these life hacks and providing the client with the right home care recommendations for the eyebrows, you will ensure the longevity of the eyebrow dyeing effect. And the client will definitely come back to you more than once, as you hold the secrets of long-lasting dyeing!
