Greetings to all beauty hunters!

Brow lightening and bleaching have become a trend among professional brow artists, and are often necessary procedures for achieving the desired results. In this blog, we have gathered the most in-demand and trusted products for brow lightening and bleaching.

Every brow artist may face several challenges in their work, such as:

  • Lightening brows by several shades;
  • Bleaching brows;
  • Removing artificial pigment from the hair (washing out previous colorings).

Lightening helps to lift the undertone of the brows by several shades, while bleaching is the complete removal of pigment from the hair. The need for washing out arises when it is necessary to remove the artificial pigment from the hair after previous colorings and restore the brows to their natural shade. We will definitely cover this topic in one of our future blogs. It is important to understand that these are completely different procedures requiring different products.

Brow Lightening Products

Products for brow lightening and bleaching can come in the form of powders or pastes. They always need to be mixed with an oxidant, as the degree of lightening of the hair depends on it (a 3% oxidant will allow for lifting the shade by 1-2 tones, while a 6% or higher oxidant is needed for stronger lightening or bleaching).

We have gathered the most popular and trusted products for brow lightening for you.

Thuya Brow Lightening Paste

This product is only used for natural hair. It lightens by up to 3 tones and has a fairly aggressive effect. It can slightly lighten previously colored hair by half a tone, leaving warm undertones. After lightening, you can immediately apply dye, applying brow conditioner for 10 minutes beforehand to restore the hair structure. The paste needs to be mixed with Thuya oxidant in a ratio of 1:2 (1 part paste and 2 parts oxidant), stirring well until completely homogeneous. Exposure time is from 3 to 7 minutes.

Ultramarine Powder Elan

Soft powder for lightening natural hair or working with previously colored eyebrows.
With 3% SBTS oxidizing emulsion, it works softer than with the classic 3% Elan oxidizing agent. Can be used with 6% oxidant for stronger lightening (maximum exposure 20 minutes).
The powder is mixed with Elan oxidizer in a ratio of 1:3 (1 part powder + 3 parts oxidizer). The usual exposure time is from 3 to 7-10 minutes. After clarification, you can immediately tint, after applying eyebrow conditioner for 10 minutes. After lightening the eyebrows, the exposure time of the tint is reduced by 2 times.

Refectocil Blonde Brow Paste

Ideal for lightening dark eyebrows and correcting the color of natural and previously tinted eyebrows. Allows you to lighten eyebrows up to 3 tones.
Must be used with 3% Refectocil cream developer. Mix 2 cm of Refectocil Blonde Brow with 20-25 drops of conditioner. Be sure to thoroughly mix the composition until completely homogeneous. Holding time from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the desired level of clarification.

Removal of dye from the eyebrows (color wash)

Often eyebrows are faced with the need to wash out artificial pigment from the hair structure. The reasons can be different: an unsuccessful previous coloring, a very dark shade, an unwanted undertone, or the client’s desire to simply return to a natural shade.
For this, there is a special procedure - a color wash, which opens the scales of the hair and removes the artificial pigment without affecting its natural one.

The most popular products for removing eyebrow dye from eyebrows among eyebrows:

  • Expert system D-Color by Elan;
  • Eyebrow Color Out by Levissime.

The principle of operation of these products is similar. The tool consists of two components that must be mixed in a 1: 1 ratio and applied to the eyebrows. The exposure time of the compositions is from 5 to 15 minutes.

How to dilute the shade of eyebrow tint?

It happens that a certain shade of dye is ideal for you, but you want to get a less saturated result. For this, there are special products - adjusters for diluting the color of the tint. In fact, it is a transparent dye that dilutes the main pigment of the tint. For example, the Nikk Mole brand has a special dye for adjusting the color Adjuster. It can be added to the dye in different proportions to dilute the shade.
Always calculate the correct oxidant ratio when you use adjusters. The proportions of dye + adjuster with an oxidizing agent should be 1: 1.
