What are permanent tattoo cartridges?

In order to evaluate the characteristics of the cartridge and understand what it is suitable for, we first need to learn how to decipher the values on the packaging.

And so the cartridges differ:

  • by thickness;
  • configuration;
  • the number of needles in the module soldering;
  • sharpening.

It all sounds very complicated and scary, but it's not. It takes a little practice and you will be able to distinguish between cartridges in an instant.

And I will help you understand the different options for modules for permanent makeup and decipher all the designations using an example.

Let's analyze the modifications of modules for permanent makeup using the example of cartridges from Defenderr, and then we will study each of the designations in more detail.

How to decipher the needle configuration for a permanent makeup

The thickness of a permanent makeup needle

The diameter of the needle is responsible for how large the output pixel will be and how airy the coloring will be. The thicker the needle, the larger the pixel will be.
On packages, the following values are most often found: 0.25, 0.30, 0.35,
but some brands (for example MAST) have changed the marking to 8, 10, 12.
Accordingly: 0.25=8, 0.30=10, 0.35=12

Let's analyze the main diameters and why they are recommended to be used:

0.25 - perfect for dry or aging skin. Creates a very soft shading, also suitable for working on the eyelids. I use them most often with organic pigments such as Organic Love series by Face.
0.30 is a universal option. This thickness is suitable for working with both eyebrows and lips. Ideal for laying the mineral. I choose this option.
0.35 - leaves the largest pixel, great for working with oily and porous skin. But it is not advised to use this diameter for the eyelids.

Next, we see the numbers. They are responsible for the number of needles soldered together. In the case of a permanent, needles /01 (one needle) or /03 (three needles soldered together) are most often used, respectively, a configuration from one needle makes one point at a time, and a configuration from three - three at a time, and so on.

Important: the more needles soldered together, the faster and denser the coloring. But in this case, the skin gives more resistance, due to which you need to make a stronger emphasis and give more power to the machine.

Are you still learning information? Then we go further, there is little left.

The main types of needles that soldered together in tattoo modules

Further, we see on the packaging the designation of the soldering configuration. The type of soldering tells us how the needles are positioned in relation to each other.

RL (Round Liner) - needles brought together in oval soldering. In most cases, permanents use cartridges with this type of soldering. All subsequent types of soldering are listed more for general educational purposes.
RS (Round Shader) - a parallel arrangement of needles soldered together, ideal for shading.
M (Magnum) - needles for coloring. They are divided into M1 (single row at the ends diverging in a checkerboard pattern) - used for light shading. M2 (dense soldering in one space in two rows) - suitable for deep coloring.
RM (Round Mugnum) - a crescent-shaped soldered together, used for light shading.

What needle sharpening to choose for permanent makeup?

The type of sharpening is the length of the sharp part of the needle. There are three types of sharpening: long, medium, and short.

LT is a long sharp sharpening of about 7.5 mm. Such a needle makes a puncture of small diameter, ideal for fine lines.
MT - a medium universal type of sharpening, about 3.5 mm long. Suitable for virtually any work with a tattoo.
ST is the "bluntest" tool, it makes a large diameter puncture, ideal for tight coloring.

Needles with textured sharpening are distinguished by a special configuration. Such a needle has a sort of corrugated texture coating. Due to the texture, it takes on more pigment and leaves it in the skin. Such needles are indicated by an additional prefix T or Texture (for example, Kwadron 35/1 RLLT-T cartridges).

In a permanent, sharpening is selected depending on the technique of applying the pigment, the type of skin, and the individual preferences of the artist.

What cartridges should a beginner tattoo artist choose?

So what to choose in the end, you ask? Well, dear, the answer is one -  you need to try. It's like choosing tweezers for an eyebrow - everyone has a different hand, different pressure, and their own preferences for comfortable work. It's good that at Beauty Hunter online store you can buy different cartridges of 5 pieces and decide on the ideal ones for you.

I try new ones every time. Here are some of what I liked:
