Hi everyone! In touch with you Anna Sakovskaya, eyebrow artist, lash lifting specialist and Beauty Hunter LAB teacher. And we continue the topic of eyelash lamination.

In the last blog “TOP 5 lamination pads”, we analyzed the most successful models of eyelash lamination pads that will satisfy all the needs of work or novice specialists.

And today we’ll talk about a painful topic: how to choose pads for eyelash laminating for a client. Yes, it's a sore topic! As a teacher, I often come across the fact that the lash stylists sincerely do not understand which pads are suitable for whom.
And this is not surprising, since now there are a huge number of pads on the market, which differ in shape, bend, color and material of manufacture.

I have prepared for you the guide of the selection of pads for laminating eyelashes. Let's get started!

What are the pads in terms of shape and bend?

First of all, you need to understand some of the differences between the pads.

The pads have different bends:

  • Rounded pads for baby curls. If you put the pads together, a circle is formed.
  • Flat pads for  lifting effect. If you put them together, an oval is formed.

Also, the ridges can be flatter or more anatomical. This is immediately evident when you take the pads in your hands. The pads with an anatomical shape immediately repeat the natural curve of the eyelid.

The main criteria for the selection of pads for eyelash lamination:

  • Bending the client's eyelashes;
  • The shape of the client's movable eyelid;
  • Overhang of the eyelid (an additional factor that slightly affects the work).

How to choose the right laminating pads?

  1. Analyze client's background data
    This is the basis of your work and a good result. Nobody canceled the individual approach to the client.
  2. Determine the direction of eyelash growth.
    Eyelashes can:
    - Grow straight (straight-growing eyelashes). Look directly at the client and if you can hardly see the eyelashes, they are “lost”, then the eyelashes are straight growing.
    - Grow down (down growing eyelashes). When you look directly at the client, the eyelashes are lowered and cover the eye like a curtain.
    - Have a natural curve. Eyelashes slightly look up and have a natural smooth curl.

  3. Determine the shape of the client's eyelid: convex or flat.
    When you work with a convex eyelid, it should be borne in mind that in the process of work the outer and inner corners of the pads can move away, which will definitely adversely affect the final result.

  4. Select suitable pads based on the customer's input.
    For eyelashes growing straight or down, choose rounded pads.

    For eyelashes with a natural curve - flat pads.
    (OKO, Lami Yami Wave Pads, Lami Yami Neon Pads, Lami Yami Green Dragon sizes S1, M1, L1, XL1, Inlei Only1, Inlei Forma, Okis)

    Almost all of the pads are suitable for a flat eyelid.
    For a convex eyelid, we choose pads with a more anatomical shape

  5. If the client has an overhanging upper eyelid, fix it with a tape so that it does not interfere with the installation of the pads.
  6. If necessary, use laminating glue to fix the pads on the eyelids.

Well, to make it convenient for you to navigate, we have made a lamination artist checklist. Memorize or save on your phone, print, copy, stick on the refrigerator or leave in a convenient corner of the workplace.
